Meet the Superhero With Capes Dr. Aneesha Sharma

"I think my greatest asset is my creative ability and being able to express myself through art. It helps me maintain my sanity and is my peace in this chaos. I think my art plays an important role in my understanding of anatomy as those diagrams I drew have stuck through and made me a better doctor."

It is a common notion that medical school is hard and draining, for me the challenges began much before that.

I had acquired my seat through the sports quota as I played lawn tennis nationals unfortunately they cut down my seat.

A four-month battle in the high court and having to sue the vice-chancellor and the university was how my medical journey started.

At this point, I had already taken a gap year and couldn’t afford to take another one and so I got enrolled at a dentistry school as a backup as medicine was always what I wanted to do.

My parents were both doctors and I had always dreamt of being one myself ever since I was a child.

I was passionate about helping people and enjoyed studying the body and how it functions.

However, my experience with getting into a medical college and my severe migraines left me with a bad experience in medical school where I was demotivated and had lost my purpose.

However, my internship at a government hospital reignited the sparks and reminded me why I liked being a doctor.

I am so grateful for my parents because they supported me all through my journey.

I think my greatest asset is my creative ability and being able to express myself through art. It helps me maintain my sanity in chaos.

I think my art plays an important role in my understanding of anatomy as those diagrams I drew have stuck through and made me a better doctor.

Now I also sell my art and hold exhibitions.

My advice to any upcoming healthcare professional would be to not waste time - every minute of your life and journey is important and every minute wasted is the loss of a beautiful experience. 🩹💊 #knyamedheroes
