"Watching my grandma suffer from diabetic foot and accompanying her to countless appointments to the hospital gave me insight into the world of medicine – inspiring me to become a doctor, for being responsible for someone’s health, dedicating every-day of my life from the first day of medical school till date to bring a positive change in my patient’s life."
“In India, it is widely stated that doctors are god’s embodiment – but that’s not true, we’re as human as the next person and we get affected by the death, pain and loss we see every-day. I always envisioned myself being a gynaecologist – what’s more fulfilling than bringing life into this world but the other side of the profession – complicated births, stillbirths, miscarriages and deaths put me off. The despairing situation personally affected me, leading me to choose another career path – pathology.
Watching my grandma suffer from diabetic foot and accompanying her to countless appointments to the hospital gave me insight into the world of medicine – inspiring me to become a doctor, for being responsible for someone’s health, dedicating every-day of my life from the first day of medical school till date to bring a positive change in my patient’s life. I got admitted to pathology after MBBS and am glad to have chosen a career that’s both patient-facing and clinical.
As a pathologist over the last few years, I’ve had some memorable experiences – donating my blood to a child with leukemia and being appreciated for it or even giving an early diagnosis that was crucial in saving a patient’s life. I once, after a long shift, accidently sent the wrong blood units to the wards because two patients had similar names, thankfully we caught the error in time and no harm was done. Each day as a pathologist refines me progressively.
I am grateful to be blessed with two lovely daughters, and they’ve quite inspired me to also venture out into social media- I’ve been making content after my younger daughter was born and have received immense love and support so far. My content focuses on my life, interests and relevant, accurate and up-to-date medical information. To sum it up I love being a doctor, but as every other human I love pursuing my interests – be it singing, dancing, social media and of course being a mother to my children.”
