Meet Dr. Ritu Hinduja

Dr. Ritu Hinduja

"There is something so powerful in a doctor’s white coat. The responsibility it demands, and the power it gives. I saw it as such a noble profession, healing the sick and the vulnerable in a way nobody else can. It’s not just about scalpels and syringes, but more about the dedication, the passion and the hard work that makes you a doctor."

“I am a doctor, a mother, and a wife, and I love everything about it. Being a woman, we face different dimensions of life, and we have to find a way to do it all. As a first-generation doctor from my family, I often felt as though I had no path paved out for me. After many struggles and plenty of mistakes, I learnt to become better. I put myself out there and hoped that in the end, I would make it.

There is something so powerful in a doctor’s white coat. The responsibility it demands, and the power it gives. I saw it as such a noble profession, healing the sick and the vulnerable in a way nobody else can. It’s not just about scalpels and syringes, but more about the dedication, the passion and the hard work that makes you a doctor.

On one of my recent Netflix binges, I stumbled upon ‘The Bold Type’- a story of 3 women, whose friendship was inspired by humour and affection. They balance each other out and grow together as people. I feel medicine is the same way. I spend so much time with my peers, that they become your family and support you in every way.

Watching Tiny Jane’s (in the show) struggle with her impending motherhood, I relived the happiest day of my life: the day I became a mother and held my beautiful baby girl in my arms. This tiny human had all my heart and every second of the day’s painful labour, tears, complications and difficult decisions had been worth it.
Loyalty and friendship in the show reaffirmed my faith in love. I think I mostly liked the show for what the take-home message was – being a woman today and all the dimensions that come with it.”
